~ Frequently Asked Questions ~

  1. How can I schedule an appointment?

The majority of imaging studies or exams requires a written order from your doctor. Your doctor’s office can schedule an exam for you by calling the imaging center of preference.

    Highline MRI Littleton 720-889-2795
    OpenSided MRI Denver 303-331-1500
Open-Sided MRI of Aurora Aurora 303-671-2140
Southwest Diagnostic Center Colorado Springs 719-380-7210
    Thornton Open MRI Thornton 303-991-2021

  1. How will I get the results of my study or exam?

Board Certified Radiologists interpret all of the exams. Please be assured that although you may not see the radiologist personally, he or she will supervise and study your exam thoroughly. The results of your exam will be reported to your physician, and he or she will discuss the results with to you.

** New technology also allows for distribution of imaging studies over the Internet at some facilities.

The technologists are happy to answer any procedural questions that you may have, but cannot legally discuss the results with you.
  1. What are the qualifications of the technologists that perform imaging studies or exams?

Usually, a technologist has undergone 1-4 years of formal training, leading to registry with a national registry board, an associate's degree, or bachelor's degree. With additional training, a technologist can specialize and work almost exclusively with specialized radiographic equipment. Radiologic Technologists may be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.) in several areas including diagnostic radiography, CT, MRI, mammography, Quality Control, and others. Ultrasound technologists are often registered with either the A.R.R.T. or with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S.), and possibly with both.
  1. How will I be billed?

There are two parts to your bill. One is the technical component, which is charged by the facility that does your exam, and the other is the professional component, which is charged by the Radiologists (RSD). The professional fee is the charge for the Radiologist interpreting your exam. You may receive a combined bill that reflects the technical and the professional fee, or you may receive them individually.
  1. What insurance does RSD accept?

Dealing with insurance and billing issues can sometimes be confusing. Our billing department staff will be happy to assist you with your billing questions.  However, because insurance plans and benefits vary greatly, specific questions about your policy and coverage, including co-payments, deductibles, and pre-authorization, should be directed to your insurance carrier or employer.

RSD maintains contracts either directly or through a third party administrator, with the majority of HMO and insurance companies. Because changes do occur, RSD recommends that you check with your carrier before receiving services to be sure that we are in your insurance carrier’s provider network.

Please feel free to contact Professional Billing Services at (303) 468-1395 if you have any questions.
  1. Are all of the Radiologists board certified?

All of our Radiologists at RSD are certified by the American Board of Radiology. In addition, many of the Radiologists have completed fellowships and received additional certification in imaging subspecialties.
